In Star Trek fandom, and perhaps in more general geek culture, a sexually suggestive phrase.
It derives from Star Trek: The Next Generation. In the second episode of the first season (entitled The Naked Now) a virus causes the crew of the starship Enterprise to behave erratically. In one scene, security officer Tasha Yar seduces the android second officer Data, asking if he is equipped for sexual intercourse. Data replies, "I am fully functional...programmed in multiple techniques."
The line comes up again in the same context during an exchange between Data and the Borg Queen in the movie Star Trek: First Contact. When the Queen asks Data how long it's been since he's used the techniques he mentions, Data replies, "Eight years, seven months, sixteen days" -- roughly the time since the aforementioned episode aired. |
