A style of free jazz that hues fairly closely to the blueprint of Ornette Coleman's early quartets. Themes that are deceptively beboppish-sounding, usually voiced without chordal (i.e. piano) accompaniment, with "energy music" improvisations that&- though still swinging in a boppish sense - make it quite obvious to Dorothy and Toto that we're not in Birdland anymore.
