Jargon for a particular level of reliability nines. This translates to 99.999% availability, or, roughly five minutes of downtime a year. Five Nines is generally regarded as providing the greatest amount of uptime that can be reasonably expected. A computer system configured to deliver five nines will generally have cluster across multiple sites, particularly if it can be spread over a large geography.
