This is to disillusion everyone who thinks that fencing is just some pansy sport where you can't get hurt.

In my six years as a fencer, I have caused...

--five bruised sternums
--one punctured lung
--countless slash marks and bruises
--one broken toe
--two minor concussions
--one eye poke

Oh, and keep in mind this was all done accidentally, while everyone was wearing the standard protective gear--several layers of canvas and denim, gloves, knickers, and a nice big mask.

The scary thing is, I'm not a dangerous fencer...I'm nationally ranked.
