A surface associated with a Kerr black hole, which lies outside the event horizon. The minimum allowed angular velocity for timelike or null trajectories is greater than zero inside the ergo surface; that is, any physically significant particle (i.e. not a tachyon) must revolve around the black hole's rotation axis once it has passed through the ergo surface.
