Domaru (or do-maru) is a Japanese armor (yoroi) invented in the 11th century.
Like oyoroi, it is made from small scales of metal (preferably iron) and leather, laced together onto plates, and lacquered. These plates are then laced together to form the armor. Unlike oyoroi, the armor is rather form fitting and sleeveless, making it much more suitable for sword (or other weapon) swinging infantry.
Domaru is very similar to haramaki. The main difference is that domaru is wrapped around the torso and laced shut under the right arm. Haramaki is fastened in the back.
