Deerstalker

A tweed hat with a cap both in front and in the back and with flaps that can be folded down to warm one's ears. Made popular through the stories about Sherlock Holmes, but the texts never actually mention Holmes wearing a deerstalker. It was Sidney Paget, the illustrator, who introduced this peculiar piece of headgear and it has stuck with the character ever since.
