The postmodern theoretical grounding (also known as the death of the subject) that takes all human intent out of human action and interaction. Postmodernists are no longer interested in the act as done by a person, but as an independent variable in and of itself valuable to consider.

This is done because postmodernists claim that human intent is the only real reason that one must ever take the subject into account when studying an act. Because we can never know the true intent of an "actor" and because the intent really doesn't matter in any case (after all, the intent cannot take precidence over the act that occured), there is no need to consider the subject when studying imperical human history.
