Jewish tradition. An informal term, that usually implies the use of a
prayer book, a
tallis, or
phylacteries, where appropriate.
It may also involve a fair amount of bobbing and weaving that is unfamiliar to Gentiles: bowing, taking forward and backward steps, standing on tiptoe.
