A slider or knob on a mixer of critical importance to a dj. The cross fader allows he dj to fade in or out two seperate channels of sound usually coming from two turn tables. Without a cross fader it is much harder to mix because you have to adjust two knobs such as the volume knobsat the same time to mix two channels.
