The co-pilot is the second in command of an aircraft. Typically seated on the right side of the cockpit, he or she is the designated relief for the pilot in command. Can also be used to refer to a partner in some activity; for example, "I was in this massive late-night hack and Jim offered to co-pilot, so we whacked that code out together and then had some Jolt."
