An American idiom that's fairly self-explanatory, I would venture to guess.

Basically this phrase is the food equivalent of bottoms up. You're hungry, hosting good company. You've slaved over a feast to consume. Everyone seated?

Say Grace: rub a dub-dub, thanks for the grub.

Okay everyone! Chow down!
