A cinematic cliche used extensively by TV schlockmeisters (e.g. Stephen J. Cannell, of A-Team and The Greatest American Hero infamy).

Catfight symmetry occurs when the hero and his female lead must battle with the villian and the villians's female sidekick. The symmetry part requires all members get into sub-battles organized by gender. The male battle concludes first, after much punching, with the hero victorious. The battle concludes when the hero female defeats the villian female in an arm-twisting, hair-pulling catfight.
