The
problem with most
hackers when they take the club back is the
tension in the
hands and
shoulders. As one famous
old pro said, "Your biggest
enemy on the
golf course is Tension and
Anxiety."
You have to take the club back with your hands, since they are the only things attached to the club, but they must remain soft. If they tense up, you will jerk the club back and no good can come of that. And this softness must reach higher than your hands; it must go all the way to your shoulders. Only then can you really feel the power of a good golf swing. It's not a violent act; it's an act of grace and purity.
God, I miss Payne Stewart. His swing was the perfect example.
