So I recently saw the Final Fantasy movie. I have to say, the lead female character in that movie, Aki, is quite attractive. I wasn't sure if this was a strange attraction or not. I started to discuss it with an online acquaintance, and she made remarks such as: "but she's only animated" and "she's not even real!" So I pondered on this for a bit... I decided it seemed odd to dub an animated woman "non-real" while accepting super-models as "real." What's an animated woman but a graphic put on screen? A super model is the same thing. But instead of using CAD programs you use make-up and hair stylists and special "ugly-be-gone" camera filters. Aren't these women just as fake as the imaginary character Aki? And the comparison isn't even limited to crazy super model actresses. Everything but the ugly-be-gone filters applies to many American women, just that the hair stylists and make-up probably aren't as expensive. So now that's I've made computer animated beauty analogous to physical beauty, I have to either say they're both real, or both fake. I think they're both, well, both. I don't see why I can't appreciate beauty in anything. If someone sees beauty in something, then that beauty is real to that person, it's when you expect a computer animation (or a super model) to have a great personality that you get into trouble. So what happens if you want beauty and intelligence? Maybe you're lucky and score a member of the opposite(or preferred) sex that's both, but realistically you're going to have to reach some sort of compromise between the two. Maybe in the near to distant future polygamous relationships will step in and you'll have one person to go to when you want to embrace physical beauty, and another when you want intellectual beauty. That's not for me though, despite all the Robert A. Heinlein I read. Maybe someday I'll be able to resist the wily charms of animated women...
