An
adjective used to indicate something is "anti", or being the opposite of another subject. Antonymous is antonymous with
synonymous.
Happiness is antonymous with
sadness. Antonymous words are
antonyms.
This is a fairly recent addition to the English language (no Webster 1913 definition), but is appearing in most new dictionaries.
