Agarbatti is the proper Indian name for what we would more commonly call incense sticks. There is a definite art to making good agarbattis, and the variety is endless. Most commonly you'll find sandalwood. All sorts of things go into the mixture for a good fragrant agarbatti, mostly the scented oils from flowers, typically jasmine, but including a large number of various parts from various plants.
