The Taoist idea that things are oft best left alone. Plant a seed in the ground and it will grow of its own volition. Water it too much or over-fertilize it, and it will die, pile too much wood on a fire and you'll suffocate it, yadda yadda yadda. See also wu-wei and tzu-jan.
