UEFA Women's Euro 2005 - England

The sixth UEFA European Women's Championship

Women's football in England does not seem to be showing the fast-growing popularity it does in some countries; England's women's football team has never had much success in tournaments. This time, however, the team qualifies automatically as hosts, and have the home crowd advantage. Could one of England's national footballing sides get some silverware this year?

The women's Euro cup is much simpler in organisation than the men's tournament. This is mainly because of the fewer teams taking part.

The eight teams are split into two groups. Group A includes England, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. Group B includes Germany, France, Norway and Italy. The teams in each group play each other in a league system. The winner of each group then plays the runners up of the other group in the semi-finals. The winners of the two semi-final will then play off for the trophy.
