Wei qi is played on a 19x19 grid with stones placed on the intersections, vice the empty spots like chess, which leads to too many game variations for a computer to solve with brute force (e.g. Big Blue). Even with the current state of AI heuristics, a human with a rudimentary knowledge of the rules can beat the best computer programs.
