Violence in Media

I have been interested in firearms almost my whole adult life. I enjoy shooting quite regularly at my local shooting range and am appauled at the lack of information that parents keep from their children on the pretense that children don't know any better. Whilst visiting my family in Montana I was stunned to see my young cousin at age 6, be handed a long barrel .22 rifle with scope and very carefully; locked back the slide, checked the chamber for any unspent rounds, engage the trigger safety and then lay down the rifle on the ground before sitting down next to the rifle, loading it, the whole time keeping the rifle pointing down range from us, then look twice to see if any people were coming, then assuming his aiming posture, then firing. This at the age of 6! I have 24 year old friends who still to this day forget to point the barrel down range when loading a clip into my handgun. Ignorance of anything is illogical. Teach your children what guns are and what they can do and they, not you, will be better for it.
