The B5 (1997-2005) is the most popular incarnation of the Passat. It offered a European alternative to the sea of midsize Japanese cars. Available with the 1.8T, V6, and in limited numbers, the W8. A wagon version was also available as well as 4motion.
The newer B6 (2006-current) is offered with a 2.0T or a 3.6L V6. It also comes in a wagon variant and has 4motion as an option.
