Vänsterpartiet Kommunisterna (
Left Party Communists), the leading
Swedish communist political party for more than twenty years (1967-1990).
The party that was VPK still is the leading communist party in Sweden actually, however they changed their name to Vänsterpartiet (V) in 1990 to remove the negative sound that the word "communist" has from the party name. Today many of the younger members want to retake the old name, though; Vänsterpartiet is indeed once again turning communist.
