A logical fallacy in which the middle term in a categorical syllogism is never used as a universal, so it never refers to all members of the category it describes.

Example:
  All women are mortal.
  All men are mortal.
  Therefore, all men are women.

To prove that the middle has not been distributed, show that the two groups may be separate even though they share a property.
