Universalist

A Universalist is a member of a (now mostly defunct) religion that was founded in the 18th Century. The faith was a Protestant offshoot of Christianity that held that God was the source of all goodness, kindness, mercy, and forgiveness, and that such a being would never send a person to eternal damnation; ergo there could be no such thing as Hell. Given the treatment that they were given by other Christian denominations, some Universalists made the observation that there was a Hell, and it was on Earth.
