| Wonderful cable network which features older films, some dating back as far as the silent era, in a non commercial interrupted format. Named after its owner, the ubiquitous Ted Turner, the network was no doubt formed as a showcase for the MGM film library which Mr Turner purchased sometime in the late 1980's. However, many non MGM movies have appeared on there and best of all are the festivals they show with one star of the month, such as the Marx Brothers. Also many of the films have an introduction given by Robert Osbourne describing a background of the feature presentation.
Another great feature on this network is called "One Reel Wonders" where one can catch such great shorts as the ones Robert Benchley did in the pre World War II years. |
