recently the market has been toying with the idea of moving to a larger area (making the worlds biggest fish market). but
history and the surrounding businesses are arguing for it to remain in tsukiji. it appears the
tradition has won the day.
the market itself is so over populated with merchants that stall rental fees have skyrocketed. the structure is crumbling/rotting, and the merchants probably have a very good reason to want the move.
