One of the three categories of vehicle insurance in the United Kingdom. Third party cover is mandatory so that if you happen to cause damage or injury to something or someone else, your insurers will pay any compensation claim. The "fire" and "theft" clauses mean that the insurers will also pay out if your vehicle is damaged or destroyed by fire, and also if it gets stolen. What this doesn't cover is a pay out in the event that you damage your own vehicle through your own misjudgement: if you want to be covered against all eventualities you require fully comprehensive insurance.
