A concept mentioned in Bernard Goldberg's " Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News." Goldberg notes that most people in the news industry have a liberal or left stance but truly considers there views as "moderate" or "in the middle." An effect of this is that whenever they report on a conservative group they feel the need to denote it as such, but when they feature a liberal group they don't name it as such because they believe it's in the middle. He notes that when everyone around you is a liberal then what you believe seems normal or moderate.
