A song released in 1976 by Gordon Lightfoot, commemorating the lives of the 29 man crew lost when the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald sank in a heavy storm on Lake Superior on Novermber 19, 1975.

Gordon Lightfoot read about the tragedy in Newsweek magazine and was inspired to write the song, which reached #2 on the Billboard pop charts. Lightfoot usually performs The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald when he plays in concert.
