The Tale of Custard the Dragon written by Ogden Nash inspired Leonard Lipton to write a poem in 1959 while at Cornell University.

This poem (with the help of another Cornell student, Peter Yarrow) would become the Peter, Paul and Mary classic, Puff the Magic Dragon.
