A band from Perth, Western Australia, first appearing in the 1980s. Their first (eponymous) album was simple teenage power pop, but from that point on they moved to a strange, distorted swampy blues sound. For all those who think that Nirvana is grunge, The Scientists were considered in the mid 1980s to be the archetypal grunge band.

Members included:

  • Kim Salmon, guitar and vocals
  • James Baker, drums (first album only)
  • Tony Thewlis, guitar
  • Boris Sujdovic, bass
