A Liverpool skiffle group from the 50s which included John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Cut a demo with Buddy Holly tune That'll Be the Day backed with in spite of all the danger which cost 17s6d. In 1959, they were earning 15 shillings each per night at the Casbah Club. Lennon's earliest recording was a 1957 3-inch tape reel with "Puttin On the Style" and "Baby, Let's Play House". It sold in 1994 at Sotheby's in London for $123,000.

The Quarrymen (minus John Lennon) reformed in 1997, with the same line-up as played the Woolton Village Fete the day Lennon met Paul McCartney. They released a CD of old skiffle and rock and roll songs under the name 'John Lennon's Original Quarrymen', and tour Beatles conventions.
Took their name from a line in the school song of Quarry Bank Grammar School which Lennon attended.
