Roger Waters' first post-
Pink-Floyd solo album. The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking tells a story entirely through one man's
nightmares, interweaving both fears and memories. In them, the protagonist remembers hitch-hiking through
Germany, as well as a failed attempt to live rustically with his family in the American West, culminating in his separation from his
wife. I think that's the gist of it, the lyrics aren't
100% clear most of the time. I could have given you a deeper interpretation about
five years ago, which is when I listened to it a whole lot. I wouldn't really recommend doing that, as it's kind of a sad album.
However, if you're into Roger Waters, that's probably your cup of
tea, and you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Anyway, these are the tracks:
