A mid-60s Toronto band, the first rock band signed to Motown. Their stint with the label was brief, terminated after it was discovered their lead singer was an AWOL American sailor. Two members - Neil Young and Bruce Palmer - eventually headed out to California, where they played in The Buffalo Springfield. Two others - Goldie McJohn and Jerry Edmonton - joined Steppenwolf. The lead singer (Rick James) faced the brig.
