The Novel The Last Butterfly by Michael Jacot is based upon an aging comedy performer, Antonin, who has been assigned to the Terezin camp to put on a show for the children living there during the Red Cross inspection. The story examines creativity amongst the atrocities of genocide. This man who tries to find love in a woman and children, sacrifices, grows and becomes new. Antonin is more than a martyr, Antonin is a hero.

The novel is an historically accurate, bittersweet and decent read.
