A band that formed in the wake of the death of the seminal rock group Slint. Brian McMahan, the voice from Slint, formed The For Carnation in 1995 with the release of the EP entitled Fight Songs. In 1996, The For Carnation followed with Marshmallows. Just recently, a new self-titled album was released on Touch & Go. It is absolutely amazing.

The sound of this group is very restrained and is full of subtle guitar stylings reminding me of the slower moments on Slint's Spiderland. The newest album is by far the best in my book. Any self-respecting prog rock kid should go out and buy this CD as soon as possible.
