The Ferguson Reflex

In human biology, the response of the female body to the application of pressure to the cervix and/or vaginal walls leading to the production of the hormone oxytosin, in turn, causing lactation and relaxation of the uterine muscles.

The discovery of this reflex, however, is what makes it interesting. Crazy ol' Dr. Ferguson, a Canadian no doubt, decided to take comparative blood samples either side of inflating a balloon inside a (suspecting) woman's vagina.

This discovery is currently widely consulted in the field of veterinary science, midwifery and providing facts for lexicons of miscellany
