After Craig Kilborn left The Daily Show, many fans thought the show was dead, especially since ace correspondents A. Whitney Brown and Brian Unger took the opportunity to "pursue career paths."

Instead of dying, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart has soared to new heights; the show is arguably at its best ever. With Stewart, correspondents Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell, commentator Lewis Black and his Back In Black segment, and the hilarious Indecision 2000 coverage, the show has accumulated accolade after accolade, from a Peabody award to (most recently) an Emmy for Best Writing for a Comedy Show.

Jon himself delivered a wonderful monologue following the September 11 attacks, one which has drawn universal praise for its honesty and sincerity. Indeed even after the attacks TDS has found ways to give its viewers much-needed laughs.
