Yeah, I know. Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker are way easier. But I still say there's nothing like the taste of homemade icing, especially when it cools and gets all crusty and flaky. This is the easy, easy icing recipe I use for my Texas Frontier Cake, so I call it Texas Chocolate Icing, naturally.

Combine the butter, cocoa and milk in a 2-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the confectioner's sugar. Beat well and stir in the vanilla and nuts.

Now spread it.
