Terry Carr, born 1937, died 1987, was a popular science fiction writer and editor. He edited many anthologies, including the "World's Best Science Fiction" series, the "Universe" series, and "New Worlds of Fantasy". The ACE specials series of new novels, many of them destined to be classics, was also edited by Carr, who was known for encouraging the talents of other writers.

He published short stories under the name Carl Brandon.
