The Technobots were a gestalt team of Autobots added to the Transformers toy line in 1987, one year after the Aerialbots and Protectobots. The toys were all futuristic vehicles, both ground- and air-based, each with a similar maroon, orange, and white color scheme. The team consisted of Strafe, Nosecone, Afterburner, Lightspeed, and their leader Scattershot. They combined together to form the super-robot Computron.
In the Transformers cartoon, the Technobots were introduced in the episode "Grimlock's New Brain", where a hyperintelligent Grimlock created them from found parts to oppose the Terrorcons and programmed their personalities himself. They were used whenever possible in the few episodes remaining before the cartoon series ended with "Rebirth".
