A Japanese
video games company primarily known for their arcade work. They developed a little-known shoot-'em-up called
Space Invaders that apparently was quite a success. Most of Taito's more recent games (by which I mean ones that use more than two colours) have been '
cutesy' in graphical style.
Bubble Bobble,
Rainbow Islands,
Parasol Stars,
New Zealand Story,
Puzzle Bobble,
Liquid Kids,
Chuka Taisen (
Cloud Master), and
Arkanoid were all their doing. Rather less cute were
Rastan,
Growl and
Insector X. Taito is apparently pronounced "Tie-Cho", but many people simply rhyme it with
potatoe.
