TV Times

The TV Times is a magazine and at the time of me writing this, a magazine that costs no less than 69 english pence. Not too expensive you might think, you may even go as far as to say 'good value' for something containing 86 colour pages of A4.

Have you ever though considered what your paying for?

This magazine is the purveyor of bad news! Every week it tells you that there is even less quality entertainment than there was the week before because let's face it, tv is on a downward slide. On some special occasions this publicasion may break your heart by telling you that your favourite show has been axed. It never brings good news, for any self respecting fan would have learnt of any positive programming selection by the networks, through the wonder of the internet.

What's more, TV times or if you are in the States tv guide or what ever, are influencing the way we think. They carry glossy pictures featuring even glossier individuals and telling us all how good they look. A tragic example of this is the copy of the TV times I have before me, brandeshing the tagline "Cool 2000". Now i don't want to get into the specifics of the highly overused, highly generalised and highly subjective term that is 'cool' but i think you'll have to agree that it is highly ironic that such a shallow and pointless magazine as this should splash the term cool across its front page.

And for future reference, by the way, you can get your tv listings off the interenet or out of a newspaper.
