Tascam has long been one of the most noted names in audio recording equipment, especially on the consumer market. They are arguably the kings of the consumer recorder, with their four-track recorders probably being the most popular of their kind. They also make professional grade recorders and mixers, as well as computer recording interfaces. In the summer of 2001, Tascam acquired NemeSys Music Technologies, makers of popular music-making software, most notably GigaSampler and GigaStudio, a sampling and production suite.
