The home of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, this fictional California town has more vampires and demons per square mile than any other. This is due in large part to the fact that it sits upon a Hellmouth, a gateway that opens into the dimension often called Hell. (Naturally.) It has been called a “one Starbucks” town, but seems to be on the largish side. Leaving aside the fact that it has twelve separate cemeteries, it also has a branch of the University of California system, at least two high schools, and also two private ones.
People in Sunnydale seem to have much the same mental ability to ignore the strange as those of Derry, Maine. This is probably due to the fact that the town was founded by Mayor Wilkins to eventually provide him a power base to ascend to demonhood.
Popular gathering places include The Bronze (a club), the numerous magic shops, and the various haunted and cursed frat houses.
