Sugar Ant is the vernacular name for small, basically inoffensive ants that can be quite obnoxious if you happen to drop any food on the ground and not pick it up. Within half an hour, if they are infesting your house, you will have ants all over the food. Even small crumbles of food are enough to draw them out.

Luckily, (at least where I am) they seem to only come out in swarms in the summer months, and as long as one is fastidious, they will leave you alone. And, when worse comes to worse, they aren't as gross as cockroaches.
