A portmanteau of the words author and Mary Sue, suethors are writers who specialize in the writing of fan fiction featuring original characters or altered exsisting characters known as Mary Sues. It is usually used as an insult by readers and trolls who dislike the writer's stories. These writers are most likely to be young adolescent girls, whose writing and character development skills have not reached maturity, and basically their writings are essentially their daydreams and ultimate fantasies within in the fandom, posted online.

Usually this term is reserved only for amateur writers on the internet, but some well-known professional writers including George Lucas, Gene Roddenberry, Robert E. Howard, Stephanie Meyer, Joss Whedon, and Quentin Tarantino, have been accused of being them as well.
