A
techno track, by
Derrick May as
Rhythim is Rhythim, which, by some accounts, is responsible in a big way for the whole second
Summer of Love thing in the late 1980's in the
UK. The original version may be found on countless
compilations, as well as Derrick's
Innovator anthology, along with the remix Strings of the Strings of Life.
The well-known piano melody was written by May's friend Mike James, and the string samples were taken from the Detroit Philharmonic Orchestra.
This track was covered by the Williams Fairey Brass Band in 1998 for their Acid Brass album.
Trivia: This song has no bassline!
