It was sung so well-- not only by the author, but by Buddy Guy, Bill Joe Cook, John Mayall, and the Allman Brothers (Who got a special case of the "Stormy Monday" Blues when they had to repay royalties to the famous Texan bluesman who penned it.) In 1999 a great album with Steveie Ray Vaughn and Albert King was finally released of their only recorded sessions together:  the first cut is "Stormy Monday."  Albert asks Stevie, "You remember that?"

However, you might not understand the difference between bumming out on any given monday 'cause your tired from the drinkin' and dancin'; and then the beginning of the work week when your 'baby done left you'. And, it will become obvious that the same escapes that work on any given week will not work, now, like: getting paid, partying on the weekend, and then praisin' the Lord. Because, then you wind up on one's knees praying, tears flowin' like a Mississipi flood for the other half of that joined flesh to return. Oh, you really got the blues, now. That's why they call it --

Stormy Monday.
